Escape in the Scenic Rim Tourism Program Set to Celebrate the Region’s Adventurous Side

With more than one million visitors arriving to the Scenic Rim in 2019 to take part in adventure and nature-based activities, the region is well established as the ultimate playground for lovers of the outdoors!

As a result of this huge demand, and recently being named a must-visit destination by Lonely Planet, an exciting new nature, eco-and adventure celebration has been announced to invigorate the region! Escape in the Scenic Rim is a month-long celebration of some of the most precious and spectacular areas of the world and will feature over 55 nature and adventure-based activities.

Staged in the spectacular World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforests and mountains the region is so famous for, Escape in the Scenic Rim will allow visitors to discover diverse landscapes and wildlife and participate in a range of events, from 4WD adventuring to hang-gliding, bushwalking, hot air ballooning, meditation and yoga.

With one in every two visitors to the Scenic Rim immersing themselves in outdoor fun, the festival is a perfect fit for the region, designed to encourage everyone’s hunger for adventure after years of COVID restrictions. Throughout the festival, visitors will be able to relish wide open spaces, take in beautiful natural landscapes and enjoy an authentic connection with mother nature.

With such a huge program of events, the festival will have something to offer for all ages, fitness levels and interests. Visitors will get to discover and relax in nature or challenge themselves physically if they want to.

Just SOME of the events and experiences on offer include:

Backpacking Alpacas – Grab your backpack and a picnic lunch and sign up for an alpaca hike from Mountview Alpaca Farm to a scenic spot along Canungra Creek for lunch.

The Iconic Stinson Walk – Recount Australian history and celebrate the life of Bernard O’Reilly, who heroically saved the lives of two plane crash survivors 85 years ago in Lamington National Park with a hike through Lamington National Park.

Luxury Camping Escape – Experience the height of relaxed luxury with this event-special retreat at Spicers Canopy Luxury Tents. First up – a 12km guided hike then the rest of the afternoon relaxing in a glamping tent or enjoy a soak in the outdoor hot tub, perfect for sunset. Awake to bird song and enjoy a chef-prepared breakfast.

And the list goes on! Head over to the Visit Scenic Rim website to view the full festival program.

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your hiking boots, dust off your backpack, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready for an adventure in one of the most beautiful places in the world!
